Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started with Block-Time?
Check out the Getting Started guide to learn the basics of setting up your logbook and logging your first flight.
Can I import data from webCIS and other logbook apps?
Yes! Block-Time supports importing from various formats. See the Importing Data guide for detailed instructions.
Is my data safe?
Yes! Your logbook data is automatically backed up and synced via iCloud.
Which aircraft support photo capture, and what do I photograph?
Photo capture is available when your fleet is set in Settings. What the button captures depends on your fleet:
- B737 — tap ACARS, photograph the CURRENT-FLT screen
- A321 / A320 — tap ACARS, photograph the AOC EVENT TIMES screen
- A330 — tap ACARS or PRINTER, photograph either the CURRENT-FLT screen or a printout
- A380 — tap ACARS, photograph the EVENT TIMES screen
- B787 — tap PRINTER, photograph the ACARS printout
Always review every pre-filled field before saving — OCR is accurate but not infallible. See the Your First Flight guide for tips.
My flights aren't syncing to my other device — what should I check?
For iCloud sync to work, all of the following must be true on every device: signed in to the same Apple ID, iCloud Drive enabled, Block-Time toggled on in the iCloud app list, and your iCloud storage is not full. See Backup & Sync for details.
Can I edit multiple flights at once?
Yes. Long-press any flight or tap Select in the toolbar to enter selection mode, then choose Edit, Duplicate, or Delete. Bulk edit lets you apply a change across all selected flights — only the fields you modify are updated. See the Bulk Edits guide for the full list of editable fields.
Can I add custom data fields to my flights?
Yes. Go to Settings → Crew & Ops Data → Custom Fields and define up to 10 extra fields per flight. Each field has a label you choose and a type: Integer, Decimal, Time, or Text. Custom fields appear when logging flights and are included as labelled columns in CSV exports. See the Custom Fields guide for more.
How do I add hours from my paper logbook?
Use Add Aircraft Summary to enter your existing totals by aircraft type without logging individual flights. Access it from the + button in the Logbook tab or via Settings → Import & Export → Add Aircraft Summary.
Each summary entry requires a date and aircraft type, plus a total block time. You can also enter a breakdown of Night, P1, ICUS, P2, Instrument, SIM, and Instructor time. These totals count toward all your running totals and dashboard figures.
Can I import my crew roster?
Yes. Block-Time can import flights directly from a QF crew roster file — both Shorthaul and Longhaul formats are supported. Go to Settings → Import & Export → Roster Import and choose to share from Mail, select a saved file, or paste the roster text. Re-importing after a roster update won't create duplicates. See the Importing Data guide for step-by-step instructions.
