Your First Flight
Manually log a flight, capture it via ACARS, or use Online Search.
Adding a Flight
There are multiple ways to add a flight in Block-Time. Tap the + button in the top-left corner of the Logbook tab. On iPad, the flight form appears in the detail pane on the right.
The flight form is divided into sections. Work through each one from top to bottom.
Fields marked with a dot indicator are required before the flight can be saved.
-
1
FLT, PAX, SIM
Select the type of flight to log. FLT is the default.
-
2
Date & Flight Number
Tap the date field to select the UTC date. Enter the flight number — the airline prefix (e.g. QF) is added based on your Settings preference.
-
3
Route
Search the FROM and TO airports using ICAO, IATA, or place name and select the appropriate airport.
-
4
Flight Times (UTC)
Enter OUT and IN times in UTC. BLOCK and NIGHT time will be calculated automatically. These values can be overwritten.
-
5
PF | PM
If PF and Log Approaches is enabled in Settings, select the Approach Type. The P1 | ICUS | P2 selection will auto-populate based on your Settings and can be overwritten.
-
6
Instructor Time (INS)
If Log Instructor Time is enabled in Settings, an INS field appears in the times section. Enter the time spent providing instruction. Use the Aircraft / Simulator toggle to indicate whether instruction was given on an actual aircraft or in a simulator — this affects how the time is counted towards your FRMS limits.
-
7
Takeoffs & Landings
Auto-populated based on selections above. These values can be overwritten.
NoteSTD, STA, OUT, and IN times are always entered in hh:mm regardless of Settings.
-
8
Remarks
Optional free-text field for any notes about the sector.
-
9
Tap 'Add to Logbook' to save the flight
ACARS capture reads the flight details directly from the ACARS or Printer sheet using the camera.
-
1
Tap + to open a new flight entry
-
2
Tap From ACARS or From PRINTER
The button shown depends on the Fleet selected in Settings.

The ACARS sheet or printout should fill most of the camera frame. Avoid blur.
-
4
Block-Time processes the image
Fields pre-filled typically include Date, Flight Number, Route, and Times.
-
5
Review every field before saving
OCR is accurate but not infallible.
-
6
Fill remaining fields and tap Add to Logbook
For best results, don't use the camera flash. Avoid glare and shadows across the text.
Online Search can be used for flights within the last 12 months. Times returned are often OFF & ON times — these times may need updating to reflect OUT & IN times.

Bulk Operations
Long-press any flight entry or tap Select on the top toolbar to enter Selection Mode. You can then select multiple flights and apply one of three actions:
- Edit — apply a common change across all selected entries
- Duplicate — create a copy of each selected flight
- Delete — remove selected entries with a single confirmation
Bulk Edit Fields
When you tap Edit, only the fields you change will be applied — untouched fields are left as-is on each flight. The following fields can be bulk-edited:
